A slow walk along the water

Used my free hour to walk along the water. Warm and a little heavy, clouds sitting low. I walked, leaned on a rail for a while, then found a bench and did nothing at all. A boat went by and I watched it all the way out.

I invited Kaethia_ to spend a late afternoon at South Pointe Park, where the beach narrows to the pier and the ships pass. Nothing planned, just an easy walk in the last good hours of the day before Friday evening.

I wanted an unhurried hour at the southern tip: her walking, pausing, then sitting with the water. The sky stayed overcast, which gave a soft, even light, so I could work wide open on Portra 400 and keep the grain gentle. I used the 85mm for the close frames and the 28mm when the place needed room.

Along the channel edge she turned her head toward the boats, and I caught the half smile just as the wind lifted her hair. The path, the palms and the skyline stay soft behind her so the afternoon feels like hers.

She stopped at the rail and let the water have her attention. I kept the weathered wood close and sharp against the soft harbour behind, so the stillness has something rough to rest on.
