One World, One Song

“One World, One Song” is the central statement of the album, imagining Kæthiar as a possible shared future built around peace, equality, connection and belonging without requiring people to become the same. The song looks backward as well as forward: the repeated choral call of “Africa” points to the shared origin of humankind, recalling a time before modern nations, borders and many of the identities that divide us today. Africa therefore represents a common origin in the past, while Kæthiar represents a common possibility for the future.

The movement between English and Italian expresses the same principle in another way. Neither language translates the other; instead, different voices and cultures continue carrying the same idea within the same song. One world does not mean one language, and one song does not mean one voice. Unity here is coexistence, not uniformity.

The line “la tecnologia non c'è più” is symbolic rather than anti-technology. It imagines technology receding from the foreground of human experience, with screens, networks and constant mediation no longer competing for our attention. The underlying principle is “Technology in the background. Life in the foreground”: presence, nature, relationships, music and community return to the center. Together with the opening image “Long before the iron and the light,” this suggests a return to something essential in human connection without rejecting what humanity has built.

As the title track, “One World, One Song” brings these ideas together into the album’s broadest vision: a shared origin behind us, different voices beside us, and the possibility of building a more connected world ahead.
